Illiteracy Among Children Around The Globe

          Illiteracy means the inability to read and write. Experts estimate that nearly 60 percent of children around the globe do not achieve basic levels of reading proficiency.The number is higher among low-income families, certain minority groups and English language learners. The tragedy is that these children may never fully participate in society. Their prospects grow dim and the chance for anti-social behavior increases. In short, they will be labelled as 'problems'. The following paragraphs will illustrate the main cause of illiteracy, effect of this disease and ways to overcome it.
