Illiteracy Among Children Around the Globe
A statistic
that has been revealed by the Ministry of Education shows that 8% or approximately 3199 out of 39988 children
in Malaysia are illiterate. According to the Oxford dictionary, being
illiterate means that one does not know how to write, read or comprehend what
he or she write. The unfortunate happen to have this problem due to 3 main
causes such as lack of financial, family factor and lack of interest.
First and
foremost, the lack of financial of the child that causes him or her to be
illiterate. This statement is indeed true because most of the illiterate
children came from poor family. For example, as we can see, India has the most
illiterate children compared to other countries as India is the poorest country
worldwide. On the other hand, Malaysia, a rich country, significantly has the
most children who can read and write very well. Thus , the lack of financial is
one of the major causes for children illiteracy around the globe.
Next is
the family factor. Some parents do not encourage their child to go to school
but instead they forced their children to be a worker. This kind of issue has
been a havoc for a quite ong time. The parents probably do not realised the
importance of study and be a bright person. Maybe this is due to lack of
exposure of the outside world as the family lives out of the city .
Last but
not least, the children themselves do not have interest to learn how to read
and write. The children will eventually become illiterate. The parents should
do something about this. Although their children do not want to learn it, the
parents should force them. It is not a torture, instead it is for their future.
Undoubtly, their child could has rebel, but in the end they will adapt to it
and finally can get use to study. And then, the children will not be rebelling
anymore.
For the
conclusion, the illiteracy among children around the globe happens due to
several aspects. They are such as lack of money, the parents take this thing
lightly, and the children themselves does not want to learn how to read and
write. In the future, it’s a hope that every child in this world does not have
illiteracy problem.
