CORRUPTION PROBLEMS AMONG EDUCATORS

  Have you ever been betrayed by your teacher? 10,000 teachers and educators have been arrested in period of 2006-2012 for committing corruption during handling their responsibility, as reported by Malaysia Ministry of Education. There are three effects of corruption problems among educators; low quality education, bad role-model to the student and gives bad image to the nation.

  First of all, educators who commit corruption will lower the quality of education in Malaysia. For example, they give marks according to the money they get from the students. They will give outstanding marks to the students who pay the most. Because of that kind of action, a quality student cannot be produced. From early of this year and the end of the year, about 300 teachers have been arrested for this. So, it is true that low quality education can be produced if educators always commit corruption.

  Furthermore, corrupted educators also represent a bad role-model to the students. As a teacher is a big influence for students at the school, they can be easily influenced by the teacher. As the example, the students will take their teacher as a role-model and they will try to act like their teacher. If their teacher was doing something wrong, they will definitely follow the teacher’s action as they thought the teacher was doing something that is right. It is clears that, corrupted educators will also be a bad role-model.

Last but not least, the nation will get bad image due to the corruption among educators. When there are foreign student who are studying abroad to our country, they will learn about the corruption cases among educators and they will spread about the news in their country.  When the stories are already well spread, the people around the globe will look down to our education system. Malaysia’s education system will be tagged as a terrible system and this will cause big humiliation to this country. So, it can be said that corrupted educators will bring shame to the nation.

  In conclusion, corruption problems among educators can cause low quality education, bad role-model to the students and gives bad image to the nation. We hope that the problems will vanish to maintain good future of the young generations.
