Should the man follow the princess's order or his own instincts? In my opinion, the young man should follow his own instinct because fate lies in his own hands, the princess hate the maiden and the princess inherited her father's nature which is semi-barbaric.
First of all, the young man's fate lies in his own hand so the young man has the right to choose one of the doors. This is not a matter that can be taken lightly, this involves life itself. Truthfully, human should make decision by their own because instinct always shows the right path to someone. I'm not saying that human should follow their instinct 100% but sometimes luck would be by your side rather than relying from an unreliable person. For instance, if the young man decided to follow the princess's order, the princess's choice might be wrong. So instead of regretting by following other people's order, it is much better to follow our own instinct. As the saying goes "being regretful early will be advantageous, being regretful later is of no use".
Nevertheless, he should follow his own instinct because the princess hate the young maiden . Although the princess loves the young man so much, undesired things may happen. She may choose the other door consist of the tiger because she does not want her lover from getting married with the beautiful maiden. If the condition happened, her hearts will shatter into pieces. The princess once saw that the young maiden throwing glances at her lover and she was very angry at the moment. Undoubtedly, the young maiden is known to be the most beautiful girl in the village so the princess did not want her lover to fall in the hand's of the people who she hates. In the end, she will choose the door where the tiger stood to evade from seeing the young man and the beautiful maiden live happily together.
Lastly, the princess inherited her father's nature which is semi-barbaric. Basically, it is hard for people of this type to forgive other people who have committed crimes. So, the princess would just rather seeing her lover being devoured by the tiger because she does not have any compassion towards other people.
In conclusion, the young man should follow his own instinct. One definitely must have instincts to know he/she is in danger. People instincts can help them to be a better person and their life will go by smoothly. Instincts are like Mother Nature. Using one's instincts consciously and wisely will take them and their places.
