CAUSES & EFFECTS ESSAY ^_^

Illiteracy Among Children Around The Globe

Mark Jewel is a 12-year-old student from Sarawak who fails to complete his primary school as he is not allowed to sit for UPSR due to his worst inability in reading, writing, and comprehension. His problems are actually faced by children at many places in the world nowadays and these problems are known as illiteracy as defined in Oxford's dictionary. The causes which lead to this kind of problem among children are lack of early education, family problem and financial problem.

The most possible reason why some children might not literate is because of the lack of early education. It is basically happens when their parents do not send them to  a pre-school or commonly called as kindergarten at present. Hence, they are not exposed with basic abilities such as reading or even comprehending that results into an inactive involvement when they have stepped into a primary school. This is because, they cannot even spell a single word when their teacher asks them to do so. Thus, it is actually a big responsibility for all parents to make sure that their children are exposed about literacy since they are still young.

Besides that, a family problem has caused children in these days become illiterate. Some parents are too busy with their work and do not have much time for them to stress on literacy skills. They also cannot spend their time to help their children doing a homework given by their teachers that makes them to give up and not complete the tasks. Moreover, children whom their parents are also illiterate may have a higher chance to become an illiterate person too as every thing done by children starts from their parents. If their parents could give complete education to them, they may be a good student with some knowledge of fundamental of literacy.

Other than that, illiteracy is caused by a financial problem faced by most children in under developed countries. Most of their parents are unable to pay for their tuition fees, which where the special class is made to help them in improving their literacy skills. The parents might not have enough money for this matter as they are living in a very poor condition and far from city. And therefore, the children will lose their opportunity to join that extra class and will be being much more worse than we ever thought. Thus, the government or the responsible committee should make few steps in order to reduce their difficulty.

In conclusion, illiteracy is a big problem among children around the globe due to a lack of early education, a family problem and a financial problem . As we are now grow up in a such competitive era, all parents must ensure this kind of problem will not be faced by their children so that they may have a brighter future and of course, for their own sake.
