Lack of Moral Values
Among Students in UTP.
Fahmi Yahya, an 18-year-old student who is currently doing
his Foundation in Technology is now at Tronoh Police Station(IPD Tronoh) as he was arrested of doing a
crime – Murder. This case is reported as one of the biggest social problems
among university students and has become a conversation topic among parents and
educators in Malaysia. The following paragraphs will illustrate the cause,
effect and way to solve the lack of moral values problem among UTP students in
particular.
This problem is actually caused by a poor religion
knowledge among themselves. Some students do not apply their religion manners
which have been taught since they were young and just think about their own
desires. For examples, many of them do not respect others’ privacy and try to
ruin their friendship just because of jealousy. To avoid this from increasing,
they must follow and implement their religion manners as each religion teaches it
believers to be good persons.
Besides that, this problem has caused the uncontrolled
social life among students. They mingle with their friends without keeping a
gap between different genders which leads to a bad matter. As an example, they
go out till midnight instead of finishing their assignments or making a
revision. For that, the students should minimize their social activities that
do not give any benefit to them.
In order to solve this problem, a counselling session or a character building camp must be
done in every semester. This might help students to improve their discipline and
focus on their real objectives as a university student. For instance, Rakan
Masjid’s Club may organize an Islamic Night that exposes and emphasizes the true ways of being
a good Muslim to the Muslim students. Thus, this activity will help the
university’s management to reduce the records of discipline problem among UTP
students.
In conclusion, there are many causes, effects and steps to
solve this kind of problem among UTP students. In fact, the students can build
good moral values by giving a full attention to their true goal of being UTP
students and to be well-rounded students in their particular courses.
